The Nashville Predators look to finish off a perfect three-game homestand on Tuesday night as they welcome the Calgary Flames to Bridgestone Arena. The Predators have won their first two games under new head coach Peter Laviolette. They edged Ottawa 3-2 on Thursday and then recorded a 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Saturday. Paul Gaustad led the way with a goal, an assist and a fight for the Gordie Howe hat trick and Eric Nystrom tallied a goal and an assist. Defenseman Shea Weber and Roman Josi also lit the lamp and Pekka Rinne made 17 saves as the Preds outshot the Stars 33-18. Its good character, said Weber. We got better as the game went on. They came out really fast and I just thought we got better. A perfect homestand to begin the season would make the Predators 3-0-0 for the first time since 2010-11 and Rinne figures to get the call tonight. He is 5-5-2 with a 2.85 goals against average and .901 save percentage in 15 prior meetings with the Flames. Forwards Viktor Stalberg (lower body) and Matt Cullen (upper body) both practiced with the Predators on Sunday, but remain day-to-day. The Flames have split the first two of a six-game road trip, losing 4-1 to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. Curtis Glencross had the lone Calgary goal and Jonas Hiller made 35 saves, but the Flames failed to build off their first win of the campaign, a 5-2 decision in Edmonton on Thursday. We didnt bring our game tonight, Glencross said. We got outworked in every department of the game. Jiri Hudler did not play on Saturday due to flu-like symptoms, but the forward may return tonight after practicing on Monday. Forward David Jones remains day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Karri Ramo will start in net tonight for the Flames, who visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday. Ramo is 0-1-0 with a 5.01 GAA and .848 save percentage in two previous meetings with the Predators, allowing seven goals on 46 shots faced. The Predators have won seven of their last 10 encounters with the Flames, who have dropped five in a row in Nashville.
